Dhaka Elections

So, the elections are over, the winners are clear and Dhaka has a new mayor. But in Bangladesh, loosing is difficult and so on election day, as soon as it became apparent who the loosers were going to be they declared that they boycotted the elections from that moment on and withdrew their candidacy. Of course this is logistically impossible and so the voters still had the full choice, but the looser now were sure that they had lost and had reasons to declare fraudulent elections. Funny.
So, this brings me to what is going on in Bnagladesh governing elite. Most of these so-called elite are holders of dual nationality or green cards or other escape routes which will allow them in case of a lost election to flee the country during the period that they are in opposition. The persons of the winners and who are living abroad than return to Bangladesh to refill their bank accounts with their corrupt practices.  Bedides the possibility to live abroad this not only requires a permit in another country but it also requires funds and bank accounts overseas. Hence sizeable corrupt practices and fund flows overseas. Examples of popular countries for these escape are Malaysia through its Malaysia my second home program, USA with its green card program, UK as former colonizer, Canada as a country making immigration popular. What is also apparent by this dual nationalities is foremost the lack of commitment by a range of government officials to the cause of Bangladesh as a country in favour of commitments to their own bank accounts.
